Automated External Defibrillator (AED) User Course Description

Over 150,000 people die from cardiac arrests in the UK each year. Research shows that in the event of a cardiac arrest the best chance of survival is to be defibrillated (to administer a controlled electric shock to the casualty’s heart) within 5 minutes. To have an Automated External Defibrillator and a trained operator at the site of a sudden cardiac arrest can raise the chance of survival from 5% to 80%.

Aims & Objectives

The aims and objectives of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) user course is to equip the attendee with all the skills and knowledge required to recognise the need for using the AED and how to use thsi life saving piece of equipment in an emergency.

General Information

Maximum of 6 attendees. A complete training package to include comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course. The Zoll AED Plus Defibrillator will be demonstarted and used on this course.

3 Hours

Delivery Techniques

This course is delivered via a range of techniques including:

  • Instructor Led Presentation
  • Group Practice
  • Group Discussion
  • PowerPoint

The amount of different methods of presentation is flexible to suit the needs of the group

 

 Course Assessment

This course is subject to ongoing assessment by the Instructor throughout the course. There is no final assessment. The Instructor observes attendees practice sessions as the training progresses to ensure the required level of understanding.

 Course Certification

All successful attendees will be awarded a certificate which is valid for six months.

 What do I need to host this course on site?

A room that will comfortably seat your amount of attendees and allow for floor practice for the duration of the course.
