Emergency First Aid for the Appointed Person

This course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present fewer health and safety risks, where a nominated person is required to take charge in the event of illness or accident. Fully qualified First Aiders in larger organisations can also benefit from additional support from Appointed Persons, especially where the workplace may consist of many floors, or work is operated in shifts.


Who should attend?


Those personnel who are nominated or who are required to provide support to qualified HSE First Aiders.


What will the candidate learn?


Basic life saving skills and knowledge how to manage a first aid incident effectively. Understanding the role and responsibilities of an appointed person in small to medium organisations. Also how they can support fully trained first aiders in larger organisations.


Course content:


• Insight into Health & Safety (First Aid)
Regulations
• Managing a first aid Incident, using the
priorities of first aid
• CPR – 2005 Guidelines
• Treatment of an unconscious casualty
• Treatment for shock
• Dealing with bleeding
• Recognition & treatment for heart attacks


Assessment:


There will be continuous assessment by the trainer.

4 hours.
