First Aid at Work (FAW) - NEW 3 Day Course (HSE approved)
Every year two million people suffer from injury or illness and 30 million working days are lost due to work-related causes. This costs business around £11 billion per year. An approved Health & Safety First Aid at Work course can significantly lower your company’s chance of becoming one of those statistics.The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) clearly outlines an emplyers obligations with regard to First Aid in the Workplace via the Health & Safety at Work (First Aid) Act 1981. This three day course complies with all the obligations and qualifies the successful individual as the First Aider at Work.
Aims & Objectives
The aims and objectives of the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) First Aid at Work course are to enable individuals designated as the First Aider at work to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency situation. Following the course the attendees will be able to manage a casulaty who is injured at work, or suffers from a serious illness, until the emergency services arrive.
On-site course can be tailored around your workplace taking into account any special suitations you may have.
General Information
Maximum of 12 attendees. A complete training package to include comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
Course Duration
3 Days
For on-site courses this can be broken down into chunks to suit your requirements. Training must be completed over a maximum of six weeks.

The amount of different methods of presentation is flexible to suit the needs of the group
Course content:
On completion of training, sucessful candidates will be able to:
a) provide emergency first aid at work:
b) administer first aid to a casualty with; injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspeceted spinal injuries; chest injuries; burns & scalds; eye injuries; sudden poisoning; anaphylactic shock;
c) recognise the presence of major illness and provde appropriate first aid.
Course Assessment
All attendees are required to undertake an assessment on the final day of the course; both practical and theoretical aspects will be assessed. Two external assessors who have not been involved in the teaching of the course carry out the assessments. Our assessors are trained to carry out the assessments in a low stress environment and to install confidence in all attendees.
Course Certification
All successful attendees will be awarded a certificate approved by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE); this certificate is valid for three years.
This course is legally complinat with teh current Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981. Upon successful completion of this three day course, first aiders receive certification to allow them to practise fro three years after which a requalification course becomes necessary. It is strongly recommended that you update your skills by taking an annual refresher.
What do I need to host this course on site?
- A room that will comfortably seat your amount of attendees and allow for floor practice for the duration of the course.
- Two additional assessment areas on the final afternoon of the course.
